Our step-by-step guide to building a website that works

Building a website can be a daunting task, especially if you're starting from scratch. But never fear! Our tried and tested website-building process will walk you through everything you need to do, from start to finish. With our easy-to-follow steps, you'll have your website up and running in no time.

It's time to get organised

Once you've had your website requirements workshop, the team at Koola Digital will consider your requirements and apply our best practice. We will provide you with a guide on the content, images and items we may need from you. But if you are planning your website, we suggest you start getting the following items organised:

  1. Clean out the old content. Start working through your current site and delete the items you no longer want.
  2. Think about the number of pages you want and what types. For example, a shopping cart might be important. A blog could also be important if you want to inform your customers about certain aspects or use it to bring people to your website.
  3. Customer testimonials and case studies are so important, that if we had to choose, a good client case study is better than any other website content.
  4. Offer clear and concise product information. If you are not certain how to communicate your product messaging correctly, get the information you need from your supplier, and we will help you formulate this. Don't make it too technical for your client and don't forget to include all the benefits.
  5. Gather your images or think about getting new photos done. You need good quality pictures of your products. Make sure they are correctly sized and in the right format.
  6. Have a contact number and email address. At a minimum, your website must display your company's contact information, such as a branded email address and phone number and any other information relevant to your line of business.
  7. Include your social media handles. Make sure visitors will be able to find you on social media. Shareability is so important. Your social media accounts will also aid your advertisements later on, such as pay-per-click traffic to your website.
  8. Include all brand guidelines. What tone can we use and which phrases we should stay away from. This also includes your logo and colours.
